How Can Miniature Jr. S-beam Load Cells Be Customized ?

2025-06-05

Standard S-type load cells often fall short when it comes to meeting the unique demands of specialized applications, prompting the need for customized solutions. In many cases, off-the-shelf models do not physically fit into specific equipment or structural designs, requiring custom shapes, dimensions, or mounting configurations for proper integration. Some applications involve unusually high or low load capacities that exceed the capabilities of standard models, necessitating tailor-made designs. In harsh environments such as subsea, high-temperature, or corrosive settings, custom load cells must be built with specialized materials and advanced sealing techniques to ensure long-term durability and performance. Additionally, customized electrical output formats—such as mV/V, 4–20 mA, ±5V, or RS485—are often essential for compatibility with existing control systems and data acquisition devices. High-precision tasks may also demand tighter tolerances, temperature compensation, or dual-bridge redundancy to maintain measurement accuracy. Furthermore, retrofitting or upgrading older equipment frequently requires Force Sensors designed to match legacy mechanical and electrical interfaces. Custom load cells offer the flexibility and performance needed to overcome these challenges and ensure seamless system integration.

We offer a variety of modifications and customizations to our standard Force Sensing Load Cell model LCS03 to meet diverse customer needs and application requirements. One common customization involves adjusting the cable length and integrating a preassembled connector. For example, a Molex 510210500 connector can be installed at the end of a 60mm cable, with the pin configuration tailored to the customer's specific wiring requirements. Each unit undergoes thorough testing to ensure proper installation and electrical integrity of the connector. In addition to Molex, we support the installation of various other connector types as specified by the customer, providing greater flexibility and ease of integration with different systems.

Another customization involves increasing the physical dimensions of the load cell to support higher measuring ranges. The standard LCS03 force detection sensor measures 6 x 16 x 19.1 mm and features M4 threaded holes, with a capacity of up to 50kg. To meet a customer's request for higher load applications, we redesigned the load cell to 16 x 26 x 40 mm, upgraded the threaded holes to M8, and expanded the measuring range to 100kg and 200kg, ensuring both mechanical compatibility and accurate performance in higher load scenarios.

Additionally, for customers concerned about the long-term reliability of threaded hole connections—especially under repeated use—we offer a structural modification to an eyebolt-style design. This version features through holes on both ends of the sensor, allowing pins to be inserted for a secure mechanical connection. Importantly, this change affects only the mounting structure and not the sensing area of the load cell, ensuring consistent performance with the standard model. This allows customers to perform initial evaluations with the standard version and transition seamlessly to customized units for batch production. These versatile customization options make the LCS03 series highly adaptable for a wide range of force measurement tasks.
